... that today is the birthday of Dr. Pepper? Charles Alderton, American inventor of the Dr. Pepper soft drink, was born in 1857 in Brooklyn, New York. While working as a soda clerk in 1885 at the Old Corner Drug Store in Waco, Texas, Charles concocted the soda fountain syrup that later became known as Dr. Pepper. Trivia fans: His customers originally asked for the drink by asking Alderton to shoot them a "Waco."
