Did you know...
... that today is King of the Missions Day? In 1798, Father
Fermin de Lasuen founded Mission San Luis Rey de Francia,
often called the King of the Missions because it was the
largest of the California missions. Trivia fans: Before the administrator Father Antonio Peyri retired, he planted certain
seeds given by a sailor who could explain only that they came from South America. They sprouted vigorously and grew quickly into tall saplings - the first pepper trees in California!
