Did you know...
... that today is the birthday of the Special Olympics? The
Special Olympics, the world's largest sporting event featuring
disabled, handicapped, and mentally retarded athletes, were
first held at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois, in 1968. The
athlete's oath was introduced at these games by founder Eunice
Shriver at the opening ceremony. The oath is, "Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt."
