... that today is the birthday of the English Chunnel? The
Eurotunnel, also known as the Chunnel, under the English
Channel between the United Kingdom and France opened on May 5, 1994. Plans to build the Chunnel had been announced by France and the United Kingdom on January 20, 1986.
