Did you know...
... that today is the birthday of the Newport Jazz Festival?
In 1954, the first Newport Jazz Festival opened at Newport,
Rhode Island. It is one of the premier jazz festivals in the
world. Most of the early festivals were broadcast on Voice Of
America radio and many performances were recorded and have been issued by various record labels.
