Did you know...
... that today is the birthday of the Burlington Zephyr? In 1934, the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad inaugurated
the U.S.'s first diesel-powered train as its Pioneer Zephyr
made its first run from Denver, Colorado to Chicago, Illinois.
It made a 1,015-mile non-stop "Dawn-to-Dusk" dash in 13 hours 5 minutes at an average speed of 77 mph.
